Located at 3,400 feet the Bend Airport (BDN) altitude is ideal for mountain flying.
Bend, Oregon offers over 300 days of sunshine a year, yet we see it all! Four seasons bring rain, sleet, snow, wind and a whole lot of sunshine to best prepare you for all the elements you will see in your career. Bend also offers students ease of flight training due to the close proximity of instrument approaches, controlled airspace and much more. Bend is a short hop from Portland, Seattle and San Francisco for long cross-country experience and busy airspace.
Leading Edge’s management team has over 35,000 hours of flight experience and over 100 years in the industry, cumulative. Our experience has allowed us to build scenarios into the training program at each level to prepare you for the challenges you will face in the industry.

LEFA offers three distinct options based on your career goals
-COCC Degree program
Leading Edge Flight Academy works in conjunction with Central Oregon Community College which allows you to use Veteran Education Benefits and have easy access to financial aid, scholarships and student loans while earning your Associate Degree in Aviation Science.
-First Flight to First Officer
By maximizing your Multi-Engine/Turbine time, graduates are better prepared to move into medium and large commercial operations.
This training program allows students to use a mix varies aircraft to prepare them for light commercial work such as Flight Instruction, Agriculture, Banner Towing, Fire Fighting, Long Lining etc.
Training in our aircraft or yours, the personal route trains students for the type of flying they wish to do privately.
